Some interesting facts...
The Landes have their own ecosystem and a unique microclimate made of golden sand and pine forests. This territory was made up of large moving wet sand dunes, creating a vast expanse of barren land.
In 1857 Napoleon III began a massive plantation of pine trees in the region with the aim of fixing the terrain , thus protecting the existing populations and creating a rich and useful land. Thus, the largest forest in France and one of the largest in Europe appeared: Les Landes.
At the surfing level, it is recognized for having the highest quality sandbanks in the world, here are the famous peaks of La Graviere and La Nord, a little further away from La Sud and last but not least, a few hundred meters to the north, the peaks of Seignosse and a little further south, those of Capbreton and the famous ‘Pistè.
