The destination

Vienna and Budapest are united by their rich shared history in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and by the Danube River, which flows majestically through both cities.

This historical and geographical connection has left a cultural legacy that is reflected in its grandiose palaces, theatres, opera house and the figure of Sisi the Empress.

Budapest

Divided by the Danube: Budapest is made up of two parts: Buda and Pest, separated by the Danube River. Buda is more hilly and quiet, while Pest is the commercial and cultural centre.

Thermal Baths: The city is famous for its thermal baths, which are an important part of Hungarian culture. The Széchenyi Baths are one of the largest and most popular, and have impressive architecture.

Europe’s largest parliament: Hungary’s parliament building is one of the largest in the world and features stunning neo-Gothic architecture. It’s an amazing place to visit!

The “Cafe of the Dead”: At Kerepesi Cemetery, there is a cafe where visitors can enjoy a coffee while paying tribute to those who have passed away. It is a unique and reflective place.

Vienna

The City of Music: Vienna has been home to many famous composers, including Mozart, Beethoven and Strauss. The city is considered the “capital of classical music” and hosts the famous New Year’s concert.

Schönbrunn Palace: This palace, which was the summer residence of the imperial family, has more than 1,400 rooms and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Prater: This famous amusement park is home to the Giant Ferris Wheel, which offers spectacular views of the city. It is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

Market Culture: Vienna’s markets, such as the Naschmarkt, are perfect for sampling local delicacies and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
